Our label spotlight this week was on Hubert Lobban’s rare 70s reggae imprint, MACK RECORDS, which features great cuts from Delroy Wilson and Hubert that we know that you’ll enjoy! Please add this show to your playlist, favorite it, or share it wherever people love the sounds of a young Jamaica. XOXO Generoso and Lily

Happy Halloween Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!
For this, the 22nd year that we have done our Halloween program, we decided to think very dead as we not only will honor the tradition of Halloween, but we will examine the many different celebrations of the dead throughout the world while playing ska, rocksteady, and reggae cuts about the recently deceased like Lloyd Clarke’s “Count Five Drop Dead,” The Revolutionaries, “Rigor Mortis,” and The Upsetters, “Dig Your Grave.” We wish you all a Happy and Safe Halloween and a blissful World Series ❤ Please add this show to your playlist, favorite it, or share it wherever people love the sounds of a young Jamaica. Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: Winston Edward’s Stop Point Label 10-16-18

Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!
We dedicated this week’s show to our dear friend, Barbara Makeda Blake Hannah, O.D. as she was awarded Jamaica’s Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer today. Congratulations mother Barbara! Our program for Barbara began with two sets of rare ska and an amazing set of joyous mento. We ended the first hour with a rocksteady tribute to the late Wesley Tinglin, the co-founder of the Viceroys who passed away on September 18 at the University Hospital of the West Indies. We send love and respect to Wesley’s family and friends. For this week’s label spotlight, we looked at Winston Edward’s Stop Point Label, which features great cuts from I-Roy, Big Joe, and Augustus Pablo.

Please add this show to your playlist, favorite it, or share it wherever people love the sounds of a young Jamaica. Stay cool friends XO Generoso and Lily

Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: Generoso’s 50th Birthday Show! 1968 Galore! 10-9-18

Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!
Sunday, October 14th, 2018 is Generoso’s 50th birthday, and so like he has done for these last 22 years, we have filled this week’s Bovine Ska with nothing but Jamaican cuts from the year of his birth, 1968, so expect to hear some wonderful rocksteadys and reggaes in this celebration. The first two sets feature cuts with “1968” in the title and we have even “intensified” the first set as 50 is a big birthday. For the remainder of the show, we borrowed an expression from our good friend Stranger Cole who says: “More LIfe. More Music,” so all of our songs will have “music” or “life” in the title, like Prince Buster’s “Musical College” and Delano Stewart’s “That’s Life.” Feel free to leave Generoso a birthday wish in the comments section and please share the show! XO
