Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: The HAM Records Label 3-27-22

Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Friends,

We hope that this show finds you healthy and strong.  We began this week’s program with two sets of ska, starting with Lee Scratch Perry’s 1965 scorcher for Sir Coxsone, Just Keep It Up. After all that boisterous ska, we did an equally boisterous mento set which featured Monty Reynolds 1957 cut for MRS, Go Slow. We ended that first hour with a reggae set selected by Lily which contained a spectacular version to version from Enos McCleod and The Mighty Diamonds that must be heard!  As we love Harry Mudie, for our label spotlight this week we dug deep into Mudie’s HAM imprint where we concentrated on his Drifter/Mudie’s Mood and Margaret riddims! Blessings, love, and peace to you all! XO Generoso and Lily

Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: Denroy Morgan Memorial 3-10-22

Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Friends,

Last Thursday, March 3rd, we sadly lost the talents of singer, songwriter and producer, the Honorable Bishop Ras Denroy Morgan. He was 76. Born in May Pen, Morgan came to the United States to pursue a career in music, and in the mid-1970s, he along with Devon “Igo Levi” Foster and Llewellyn “Jah T” Breadwood, formed The Black Eagles in New York City. Morgan then began a highly successful solo career in the early 1980s as he cut hit tracks in reggae, soul, and funk. You can hear our tribute to his career at the midway point of this show. At this sad time, we extend our deepest sympathies to Morgan’s family, friends, and musical colleagues. Rest in power Bishop Morgan. Love and respect. Generoso and Lily
