It has been a long time since we’ve been together, and we’re glad to be with you again, but sadly, we must share the news that the great vocalist and founding member of The Clarendonians, Peter Austin, died at his home in St. Andrews on Friday, July 21st. He was 78 years old.

For our memorial tribute on this program, we looked at Peter’s career from his earliest recordings with Ernest Wilson as one of the most popular duos of early Jamaican recordings, The Clarendonians, through his solo work and his efforts as a producer. Peter Austin was a gentleman, an exceptional singer, and a talented songwriter and producer. He will be greatly missed.

At this sad time, we send our deepest respects to his family, friends, and many musical colleagues. Rest in power, Peter.
