Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: Copley Johnson’s JDI Label 5-2-17

Welcome Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!

We heard the upsetting news that Elton John has been in very poor health, and armed with this knowledge we set upon the task of starting the show with a set of good Jamaican covers (1971-75) of Elton’s work as a tribute, and doggonit, we think we found them. Tell us what you think of the set! As for this week’s label spotlight, this one has been very long in the making. Not only was locating the best singles from the JDI Label difficult, but information about this short run label that only existed from 1966-67 was even harder. Luckily our friend, legendary foundation singer/songwriter, Roy Panton. recorded for the label and was kind enough to share his memories about his time at JDI with us and we are so very grateful to him for that information. Thank you Roy! PLEASE ADD OUR SHOW TO YOUR PLAYLIST here on Mixcloud and share it everywhere you see fit. XO Generoso and Lily
