Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady listeners!

We love Sam Cooke, so very very much, and so have the recording artists of Jamaica, who over the years have cut sensational versions of Mr. Cooke’s extensive songwriting catalog. Not only have artists such as John Holt, Johnny Clarke, and Dudley Sibley recorded superb versions of Sam’s songs, but vocalists like Pat Kelly, Ken Parker, and Eugene Paul have embodied the actual voice of the man who many call The King of Soul. For this week’s program, we listened to dozens upon dozens of ska, rocksteady, and reggae interpretations of Cooke’s songs and we have selected our favorites to play for you on this week’s very special show in honor of the late Sam Cooke.
