Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!

We begin this week’s show with sad news and a tribute to Steve “Grizzly” Nesbitt, the original drummer of Steel Pulse passed away on Jan 18th at the age of 69. We played a few early cuts that truly exemplify Steve’s brilliance behind the kit. We send love and respect to Steve’s family and the members of Steel Pulse. For our label spotlight this week, we should say that if you have listened to the Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Radio Show these last twenty plus years know exactly how much we love The High Priest of Reggae, the late Roy Shirley. Our focus is on Shirley’s own PUBLIC LABEL, which as you imagine features many a splendid cut from Roy himself. Amazing productions all around from 1968-1972 that should knock you out.
