Generoso and Lily’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady: Jamaica Sings The Songs of Goffin and King 7-10-18

Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners!

The songwriting duo of Gerry Goffin (lyricist) and Carole King (composer) were a hit making machine for The Brill Building, and for this week’s Bovine Ska and Rocksteady we will examine their profound influence in Jamaica by playing superb rocksteady and reggae covers of the classic songs that they created together. You know their hits: “The Locomotion,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” “Take Good Care Of My Baby,” and on this show you can hear rocksteady and reggae versions from 1967-1978 of Goffin/King classics like these done by Jamaican artists such as, Alton Ellis, Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Dandy Livingstone and many more! PLEASE ADD THIS EPISODE TO YOUR PLAYLIST ON MIXCLOUD, or share it wherever people love the sounds of a young Jamaica. Stay cool friends XO Generoso and Lily
