This show has been many years in the making. Since reading the 2012 Jamaica Star piece on Jamaican violinist, Raymond Young, better known as “White Rum” Raymond, we have been collecting research and cuts to assemble this show that features Raymond’s beautiful violin work playing behind legendary artists like The Paragons, Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan for such notable producers as Coxsone Dodd, Duke Reid, Prince Buster and Gussie Clarke. The first half of the show featuring ska and the second half the classic rocksteadys and reggaes, some of which you know all too well. In the coming months, we will do a show that focuses on the many reggae with strings selections produced in the UK.
