Hello Bovine Ska and Rocksteady Listeners,
The last few weeks have seen the passing of Jamaican music legends, Nambo Robinson and Ronnie Davis and now, sadly, Noel “Scully” Simms, who began his career during the Jamaican rhythm and blues period, passed away on February 3rd. It is staggering the amount of music that Scully either sang or played percussion on during his long and storied career. We have memorialized Scully the best way we can by presenting to you a spotlight of both his extensive work as a vocalist, both solo and with his longtime singing partner, Arthur Robinson, and as a percussionist who had performed on over 700 recordings, many some of the most iconic in Jamaican music history. Rest in peace Scully and thank you. XOXO Generoso and Lily
